Nicole Byer is looking for a ghost husband at Austin's Moontower Comedy Festival

Comedian Nicole Byer is looking for a ghost husband.

When we asked her how she felt about performing at Paramount Theatre in downtown Austin on Friday, she didn't know that some thought the venue was haunted. The theatre has been around for more than 100 years, we explained. Did she think anything spooky was going to happen?

"I hope something spooky happens. I hope a spooky man goes like, 'Oooh. You're hot. Marry me.' And I'm like, 'OK!' And then I'm married to a spooky ghost in Austin, Texas," Byer said.

It was just one of the moments Byer had us laughing during our conversation. Byer is bringing a 50-minute set to Moontower Comedy Festival this week and we can't wait. Byer, who you know from Netflix's "Nailed It!" and her special on the streaming service "Nicole Byer: Big Beautiful Weirdo," is no stranger to Austin or Moontower Comedy Festival.

"I like Moontower," Byer said. "Festivals are like summer camp where it's like, you know so many people that you don't normally get to hang out with all together. You all get to chill and do shows. It's just a nice, fun time."

Byer's set covers her love life and work life, among other topics. It's hard to compartmentalize, Byer explains.

"I've lived. So I talk about the stuff I've lived through," she said.

Above all, audience members can expect a funny show, Byer said.

"It's a fun set that I'm having a lot of fun with. Let's see. What can I tell you? I don't know. It's funny. This is a bad answer," Byer jokes.

Even in a so-called bad answer, we were laughing.
